Project Overview
William's Sonoma partnered with Morley to design a trade show booth that will support their launch into the contract interiors market. The trade show booth needed to be a reflection of their new contract brand image and embody northwest modern design with clean lines and a modern finish palette. It also needed to have the ability to scale to different sized shows while showcasing a wide variety of products from their family of brands.
Design Process
I served as lead designer and established the initial creative concept. After the project kick-off with the client, I put together a visual document that was a composite of stylistic images, sketched ideas, and a color/material palette. This served as the visual roadmap that allowed us to move to the next step of producing booth sketches and clay renderings. I produced three visual sketch concepts that we quickly mocked-up in CAD to demonstrate how the booth can scale to various sized floor plates when traveling to different shows. The client chose a concept with some minor revisions and we arrived at a final render that was then built and shipped to multiple shows.
Key Design Features
Some of the very best features of this display included modular gallery walls that allow products to be viewed while inside and walking around the booth as well as cantilevered roofing composed of metal beams and set at varying heights. Additionally, a unique chair Williams Sonoma chair display that consisted of a series of chairs knotted together with nautical rope that was suspended from the ceiling.
